Drug Description

Generic Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill) that helps to avoid your body from soaking up extra salt and thus maintaining proper potassium levels.

Spironolactone Tablets, for oral use hold 25 mg, 50 mg or 100 mg of Spironolactone, carboxylic acid γ-lactone acetate. Other inactive elements in these tablets contain calcium sulfate, crospovidone, corn starch, dextrose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, maltodextrin, polydextrose, natural peppermint flavor, polyethylene glycol, silicon dioxide, povidone, titanium dioxide and triacetin.

This drug is used to treat fluid retention (edema) in people having cirrhosis of the liver, congestive heart failure, or a kidney disorder called nephrotic syndrome. This tablet also treats or avoids hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood).
