Description

Candid-B is an antifungal drug to treat yeast infection. Its active component, Clotrimazole is an odorless, white crystalline substance. It is scarcely soluble in ether, nearly insoluble in water, and very soluble in ethanol, polyethylene glycol 400, and chloroform. This medication is marketed under a variety of names.

Indication

Candid-B is applied for the treatment of fungal infections of the mouth, vagina, and skin for example jock itch, athlete's foot, and body ringworm. This drug is also used to avoid oral thrush in some patients.

Administration

Candid-B is regularly used five times a day for 14 days for oral thrush. For skin infections, use it twice a day (in the morning and evening) for 2 to 8 weeks. To treat vaginal infections, apply once a day at bedtime for 3 or 7 days. Pursue the guidelines on the package or your prescription label cautiously. Use the cream accurately as directed. Avoid more or less of it or more often than instructed by your doctor.

Before you use the topical cream, completely wash the infected area, let it to dry, and then gently rub the drug in until it vanishes. Rinse your hands after using the medicine. Use the missed dose the moment you bear it in mind. But, if it is approximately time for the next dose, you should not use more of the cream. Carry on using clotrimazole even if you feel fine. Also keep on using this medicine during your menstrual period. Avoid discontinuation of the drug without talking to your doctor.

Side Effects

Clotrimazole may bring about some adverse effects. If you grow any of the following indications, call your doctor right away: burning, itching, redness, irritation, stomach pain, swelling, foul-smelling discharge if using the vaginal product, fever, upset stomach or vomiting with the lozenges (troches).

Precaution

Before using the drug, let your doctor know if you are allergic to it or any other drugs. Notify your doctor and pharmacist if you take any prescription and nonprescription drugs, particularly antibiotic drugs and vitamins.

Inform your doctor in case you have or ever had liver disease, (HIV), (AIDS), problems with your immune system, diabetes, or a history of alcohol abuse.

Clotrimazole lotion, cream, and solution are meant for external apply only. Avoid Candid-B's contact with your eyes and mouth. You must not consume the vaginal cream or vaginal tablets.

If you have a vaginal infection, avoid doing sexual intercourse. An ingredient in the cream may decrease the effect of certain latex products like condoms or diaphragms; never use them within 72 hours of using this cream. Dress in hygienic cotton panties, not panties made of nylon, rayon, or other synthetic fabrics. Do not let other use your medicine. If you still experience signs of infection after you end the clotrimazole, consult with your doctor.

Storage

Store this medicine tightly closed, and out of reach of children. It should be stored at room temperature and away from superfluous heat and moisture. Do not chill. Discard any medicine that is outdated or no longer needed.
