Drug Description

Generic Frontline Plus, Fipronil Liquid is recommended to treat and prevent ticks, fleas, as well as chewing lice infestations in cats and dogs. This drug also helps to control sarcoptic mange in dogs. Fipronil is a factor in Frontline Plus. It is accessible in a topical solution. Each card holds 3 or 6 pipettes. Also it is marketed in the form of topical spray.

Dose and Administration

Use the liquid to the pet's skin instead of the hair coat. Never massage.

Dogs: There are individual pipettes offered for dogs in weight group up to 22 pounds, from 23 to 44 pounds, from 45 to 88 pounds, and from 89 to 132 pounds. For weight above 132 pounds, make use of the suitable mixture of pipettes or pipette plus spray.

Cats: There are also individual pipettes for each cat.

The suggested dose of Frontline for cats or dogs is 1-2 pumps per pound of body weight with the 250 ml bottle. If you have the 100 ml bottle, the dosage is 3-6 pumps per pound of bodyweight. Apply higher doses for pets having long or dense hair. Unsettle the hair coat while applying the medicine. Spray the drug until the hair coat turns wet. Wear globes in your hands to apply the preparation. While applying on the face, make sure not to use on the eyes and mouth.

This drug should not be applied 1-2 days after bathing because the natural body oil that is essential to spread the medicine will be momentarily eliminated after bathing. Use this drug once a month for constant safety from ticks. If there are few fleas and no ticks, use it every 2-3 months for flea removal.

The duration of treatment may vary based on the condition being treated, reaction to the drug and the growth of any side effects. Be sure to complete the prescription unless your veterinarian has denied you to do so. Even though your pet feels fine, give complete treatment to avoid relapse or avoid the development of resistance.

Side Effects

Side effects induced by using this treatment on pets are mild. However report to the doctor if you notice temporary redness or itching at using location. If endures further than some hours, bathe the animal and call your veterinarian. The pet may slaver if he passes the tongue over the product before it dries up.

Drug Interaction

This drug should not be applied blending with other pesticides in particular on the pet.
