Definition

Heparin belongs to the family of drugs called anticoagulants (blood thinners), although it does not actually thin the blood. This drug is available under the brand names such as Calciparine, Calciparine, Liquaemin, Hepalean, and Heparin Leo in the United States and Calcilean in Canada.

Heparin gel penetrates pathologically altered tissue right away upon use without leaving remainders or degreasing the skin.

Heparin gives all the requirements essential for useful treatment of thrombophlebitis occurring near to the skin and of other external inflammations. It helps in fortifying and sustaining the connective tissues. Scar tissue turns into soft and gets back elasticity and strength. It also possesses an antiphlogistic and anti-exudative consequence, thus relieving pain and upgrading tissue metabolism and the procedure of healing.

Indications

Heparin gel is indicated to treat haematomas, circulatory disorders, accidents and injuries, superficial phlebitis and thrombophlebitis, external haemorrhoids, varicose veins, bed sores and indolent ulcers. This gel is also applied on sprains, contusions, strains, and grass burns and on scar tissue (to avoid formation of keloid tissue). This drug is available in a tube f 25 g.
