Unienzyme tablets are taken to treat stomach gas. This drug holds components such as papain, fungal diastase, nicotinamide, simethicone, and activated charcoal. Fungal Diastase is the usual pro-digestive enzyme, applied in disorder of GI functions and to prevent poisoning of food.

Drug Indications

Unienzyme is used to absorb gases in the stomach caused by stomach gas. It should not be applied as a supplement to treat poisonings or overdose. There are also other conditions that are treated by this medication.

Reasons of Stomach Gas

Gas in the digestive tract such as the esophagus, small intestine, stomach, and large intestine) is caused by mainly excess swallow of air and normal failing of some indigestible foods caused by risk free bacteria obviously present in the large intestine (colon).

Drug Administration

This medication should be taken by mouth with a glass of water. Pursue the instructions on the package label or use as told by a doctor. Excess use of this medicine than directed is denied. Consult your pediatrician before using this drug in children. Children may need special care.

If you forget to take any dose, take it the moment you bear in mind. But it is advised not to take it if it is approximately time for your next dose. You must not take double or extra doses.

Drug Interactions

Many drugs have been found interacting with Unienzyme. There it advised not to take these drugs while being treated with Unienzyme. These drugs include ipecac, aripiprazole, acarbose, birth control pills, dapsone, carbamazepine, some herbal drugs or dietary supplements, digoxin, phenytoin, olanzapine, pindolol, theophylline and ursodeoxycholic acid. Other drugs may include phenothiazines like chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine, mesoridazine and thioridazine. Ask your health care provider if you want to know other drugs interacting with it.

Side Effects

Side effects with any drugs are natural. Unienzyme tablets also give rise to many side effects. Some of these effects are less serious while some others are serious.

If you experience any of these adverse reactions, consult your doctor: diarrhea or vomiting, allergic reactions. Less serious adverse reactions caused by this drug include constipation, dark stools and dark tongue. To find out all probable side effects, consult your doctor.

Drug Precautions

It is essential to inform your health care professional all medical conditions you have before taking this drug such as frequent heartburn or gas, food or medicine poisoning, stomach or intestinal disease, allergic reaction to it, other pills, dyes, foods, or preservatives. You should also inform your physician if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant or breast-feeding.

Notify your healthcare provider if your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen. Consult with your physician if your symptoms exist for 3 days. This drug should not be applied to treat a poisoning or overdose. Get emergency help.

Avoid taking any other drugs for at least 2 hours before or after taking this drug. Also avoid taking cheese, milk, or other diary for at least 2 hours before or after taking this drug.


Store this medicine at room temperature amid 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) far from heat and moisture. Also keep it out of the reach of children. Discard any unused drug after the expiration date.
